Thanks!

Another most excellent Thanksgiving. Watched some giant balloons on the television in the morning. Then in the afternoon, I wowed everyone with my homemade cranberry sauce (I usually bring a can), sauerkraut, and pumpkin whoopie pies. Went over to family number 2, and continued to eat the night away. The only disappointing part was that my family eats so much there were no leftover mashed potatoes or stuffing for my turkey sandwiches the next day.

I'm extra thankful for these two Thanksgiving hams...

and Coffee.

I'm quick like lightening in the kitchen, just a blur.

So. Good.

Finding the perfect caramel colored frames to replace the glasses I have had for the last 4 years. Not too big, not too small. Okay, maybe a little too big.

Around the House

Two new seagull mugs that remind me of going to my grandparents old beach house in Deleware. My plan was to sell these, yeah right!

My snakeplant is growing a flower - impressive! Thank you watering globe.

FREE bag from Woodwards on the avenue. Perfect leather boho
(except for the inkstains on back, but thats what patches are for).

Good Morning

I woke up this morning to the sound of Sawyer whimpering to himself, never a good sign. John inspected him and concluded that his ear was falling apart. Great. I immediately diagnosed him with a flesh-eating bacteria. Captain Shlawman then went to see Dr. K, who gave the official diagnosis of "Eh." Apparently, little dogs ears are just thin and sometimes do not heal well from minor injuries. So now our scruffy mutt is missing two chunks out of his ear and there maybe more to come, which is actually pretty funny now that I know he is not going to die. To celebrate we went to the park.

Even with his new, more aerodynamic, ear he is still not as fast as Gertrude

Mondays

So I am now part of the select few who does not work on Mondays. After 6 months, I think I am still adjusting to this strange schedule where my Monday is actually on Tuesday, and John's Tuesday is like his Friday, and my Saturday is like my Friday. I know, it does not make any since to anyone but me.

While everyone else is back to the grind, here is my rainy Monday this week.

It's Not Over

Just trying to remind myself how awesome layers and chunky knits are because they are calling for MORE snow over the next two days. Stupid reliable almanac!

I have to go do laundry now because all of my cardigans and heavy tights are dirty. boo.

The Blizzard

I love it when it snows so much that everything shuts down, and the only thing you can do is bundle up and trudge around outside into the beautiful mess.

The Avenue

Our Norwegian rap group.

Queen Gertrudenthal is not a fan.

She prefers being inside with her cozy sweater.

Sawyer can't see the greyhounds next door over all the snow. Behind him is his little snow tunnel.

Pre-Blizzard night-time snow walk

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Who knows when life will return to "normal" For now, I get to catch up on all the Best Picture nominees i have missed, walk down the middle of 36th street, and drink hot chocolate all day.

Beach House

I was fortunate enough to have seen them a few years ago in an old church with no air conditioning during a sticky Baltimore heatwave. It stands out as one of shows that you will never forget. Now whenever I listen to them I get all warm.

Here is an acoustic version of one of their new songs from Teen Dream. This album is more upbeat than their previous two, but still 'dream'y and lovely, and I can't stop listening to it.

twenty ten

I never make New Years resolutions, but this year I have a whole mess of them (probably because I have been a mess). It's probably up to around 20 - 30, its ridiculous. I should write them all down somewhere, but they all basically have to do with the same thing - less procrastinating and more taking care of myself. In a swirl of New Years energy I finally organized a large quantity of Etsy schtuff to post in the coming days. I'm working on making myself a nice little work area to keep myself motivated.

They love to keep up to date on how many goldfish I have consumed while at the computer.

And resolution #1 is to drink more water! Preferably out of Peanuts glasses.
