A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

I'm reading a 1943 bookclub edition of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn that I found at a thrift store for next to nothing. It still has a tattered original dust jacket with wartime propaganda on it. I can't believe that I have never read this gem of a book. I haven't gotten through 50 pages yet, and I love little Francie Nolan so much that it makes my heart ache.

Perfect Day

Having a relaxin' Summer day. Woke up early and took the beast for a long walk to the coffee shop all the way in Roland Park. As apposed to being lazy, and going to the one 1/2 a block away on the Avenue, and then having him follow me around the house all day. We found a pretty butterfly enjoying a lavender patch.

Here's tired Sawyer, and where did that fork come from?

Gonna put up some things on Etsy, finish Lost Horizon on that green chair, and wait for handsome Johnny to come home from work.

Cake!

It was very hard to eat my healthy Kashi cereal this morning instead of this deliciousness! Tres Leches cake I made for John's belated birthday. I'm glad the second one turned out alright. It reminds me of a cake I had when I was little, like maybe my Great-Grandmother made it before? Something about the splash of rum makes this the greatest thing ever. Go figure.

New

Starting a pictorial journal of all the thing I want to remember, but too often forget. Like...

...finding a little purple flower on my boot after a walk in the rain.
